Writer's Bio: ALISON MAREK has been writing about children and health-related issues for more than 15 years. She is an alumnus of NYU's graduate filmmaking program. Her short fictional film "The Playground" was broadcast as part of Showtime Network Inc.'s kNOw HIV/AIDS campaign in December 2003. Her 2005 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation-sponsored short, "The Three-Body Solution," is currently in postproduction. She is also the author/illustrator of the PIRANHA PRESS (DC COMICS) graphic novels "Desert Streams" and "Sparrow."
